From your firm's Clients page you can deactivate a client account — for example when an engagement ends or payment is past due. Deactivating immediately locks that client out of the platform (they see an "Inactive Account" screen telling them to contact their firm administrator), while you keep full access to their records from the same page. Reactivating restores their access instantly.
💡 Tip — Who can use this Firm administrators, from the Firm Portal → Clients page. This applies to any client in your firm's portfolio, whether the platform bills them directly or your firm sponsors them.
Quick reference
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open Clients and find the row |
| 2 | Click Deactivate |
| 3 | Confirm the archived status |
| 4 | Reactivate with one click when ready |
Step 1: Open the Clients page
In the Firm Portal, go to Clients. Every client shows their tier, framework, status, and the actions available to you.

📝 Note — The INACTIVE badge Clients whose own plan has expired show an INACTIVE badge next to their name — that's the platform's billing status for them and is separate from deactivation. Deactivation is the action you control.
Step 2: Click Deactivate
On the client's row, click DEACTIVATE. The change is immediate — no data is deleted, and their row stays on your list.
Step 3: Confirm the archived status
The client's status pill switches to ARCHIVED and the row's action becomes ACTIVATE. The client themselves now see the Inactive Account screen with a "deactivated by your firm admin" message and a Log out option — they cannot use any part of the platform until you reactivate them.

Step 4: Reactivate when ready
Click ACTIVATE on the row. The client's access is restored on their next sign-in. If the client was also behind on their own plan payments, they'll next see the standard renewal screen — reactivation and their plan status are handled separately.
⚠️ Warning — Deactivating doesn't cancel the client's own subscription If the platform bills the client directly (a card plan), deactivation pauses their access but doesn't refund or cancel their plan. Reactivating returns them to whatever plan state they had.
